When I had my wisdom teeth removed in December, my EKG was abnormal, so I was referred to a cardiologist. I should also mention that for as long as I can remember I have had breathing problems and regular chest pains/arm numbness that seems to be related to the breathing problems. Sometimes it's really bad, like the time in 2005 when I went to the Emergency Room while visiting Amy in Georgia, and sometimes the symptoms disappear for a short period of time, like they did over Christmas Break of this year, right after I got my wisdom teeth out. I have been diagnosed with asthma 3 times, but every time I get an inhaler, it doesn't help me. When my EKG was found to be abnormal, I worried that the years of breathing problems were related to my heart. At the cardiologist, nurses performed an echocardiogram, a stress-test (I had to run on a treadmill for a long time, it sucked), and a 24-hour heart monitor (I had to wear electrodes for 24-hours, it sucked). To the nurses, nothing looked normal and this scared me. I went back on Friday for a follow-up appointment with the cardiologist, and she said that everything looked fine, that I just have an abnormal EKG. This is good, because my heart is healthy, but I still don't know what's causing my breathing issues. The doctor said that I should make an appointment with a gastrointestinologist because my symptoms could be caused by a really bad case of acid reflux (something my mom suffers with). Before the possibility of a heart issue had arisen, I had speculated that my problems could be caused by food, but had dropped this idea when the more exciting and dramatic "faulty heart" diagnosis had seemed plausible. Now that it is looking likely that I have an acid-filled esophagus, I just feel gross and really fat, and am dreading the thought of some sort of strict, caffeine-free, chocolate-free, carb-free, anything good-free diet.
Other than that, we haven't stopped watching 24. Lee and I are on episode 9 of season 5, and it's still really good. Matthew made this video today, and I think it definitely sums up how ridiculous, but in a good way, this show is.
